You can DO this!
This is a nice little tute on how to create your very own zippered pouch. One thing I’d like to offer, and – and this is based soley on my own experience and experimentation – is to use a stiffer interfacing (like sew-in Pellon 50) for your outer fabric and a Pellon Thermolam (fusible or sew in) for your lining. Yes – that’s right. Use the Thermolam for your LINING instead of the outer fabric.
After much trial and error, I have discovered this is the way to go. After all, if you’re making a pouch to protect your stuff, doesn’t it make more sense to have the cushiest protection (the fusible fleece) closest to the contents? I also use Sew Lazy Stiff Stuff for some applications, such as my Tablet Cases. Sew Lazy Stiff Stuff is amazing to work with, it’s extremely flexible, you have no issues turning things right side out, and boy – does it make your purse, case, or pouch stand up and not lose it’s shape!
